I am a member of Girl Develop It Philadelphia and as someone who wants to get into technology, it was one of the best things I ever joined.

The tech field is notoriously white male dominated and the mission of Girl Develop It is trying to change that ratio. They sponsor many classes and events, including many that are on this blog. The group – which is found on Meetup – is also great for a place to network and learn from others on what it takes to be a success in the field. I’ve been able to fill up my LinkedIn page with connections who are relevant to my chosen field. I’ve been able to run into people I’ve met before and it’s always nice to find a friendly face when I go to a tech event now.

As of this writing, I have been to 6 so far- I always look forward to more!
