Poem Excercise from HTML class at Women’s Coding Collective

I took an online HTML class from the Women’s Coding Collective. For this excercise, we were supposed to design something that had:

  • A title
  • A main heading
  • Text of the poem
  • An image or two
  • A link to the poet’s website, Wikipedia page, or a similar resource
  • A bulleted list of tidbits about the poem (e.g., nationality of the poet, year it was written, references in pop culture, etc.)

AND This is what I came up with!
Monday’s Child

Monday’s child is fair of face,

Tuesday’s child is full of grace,

Wednesday’s child is full of woe,

Thursday’s child has far to go,

Friday’s child is loving and giving,

Saturday’s child works hard for a living,

But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day

Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

Poem fun things:

  • First recorded in 1838 and collected by James Halliwell-Phillipps, who was born in London.
  • Monday’s Child Wikipedia page
  • “Friday’s Child” (1967) is an episode of the original Star Trek television series. The name of episode seems to come from the poem.
